WARNING To any female cosplayer in the Chicago (And surounding) areas!
COSPLAY LADIES (or any ladies, really): WATCH OUT FOR THIS GUY. SERIOUSLY
Today I got a random message from a man on Facebook. A Christopher Jason Ross. And I’m scared, guys. I really am. I’ve blocked him on both Facebook and Deviant Art (spikerommel), But I’m still quite shaken, and feel on the verge of a panic attack. I am posting this as a warning to all to avoid this man pictured above. Please. I really do not feel that he is safe. He is, among other things, rude, spiteful, judgmental, and way beyond a normal modern-day level of sexist. (As I later found out. There are other warnings out there about this guy if you know where to look, but none posted publicly, which is another reason for this.)
Luckily for me, I do not live close to where he does (Chicago) But as I do go to some Chicago cons, and he is a Con-goer and cosplayer, I do feel I would not be safe should I find myself walking around alone again at one of these cons after this experience I just had. And I have seen him at cons before.
I probably talked to him far too long in this conversation. and he did keep responding after I was finished. (I didn’t have the chance to block him right away)
Below is the conversation. (Please take note that the conversation “started" today. This is the first time I have had contact with him apart from seeing him walking around at a few conventions.)
Owners of GeekGirlsOnline, Athena Hollow & Loz, have released new supplements for their Fantasy Core RPG.
SCREAM QUEENS - The Rules of Horror
SCREAM QUEENS, as one would expect, is a horror supplement that has everything from player & monster templates, to setting ideas, and everything in between. As with ROME, there is both an All Ages Version & Adult Version. To view the adult version, you’ll need to be logged into your DriveThruRPG account and have “Show Adult Titles” turned on in your settings. Grab your copy for only $7 today!
Fantasy Core - RED CARDS (Pay What You Want model)
Red Cards is a fun and silly way to help keep some of your more obnoxious players in check. With each infraction they commit while playing, they receive a Red Card and are forced to sit out of the game for a pre-determined amount of time. Originally created by Matt Vancil, Tony Becerra, and Andy Dopieralski for use during filming of JourneyQuest, we have adapted this to work in not just Fantasy Core, but any tabletop roleplaying game you might be playing or running.
RED CARDS takes advantage of the new “Pay What You Want” method of payment on DriveThruRPG.
The Fantasy Core Gaming System is designed to be the most flexible and open-ended table top roleplaying system ever created. With Fantasy Core, you are in control of your character. No longer will you be confined to someone else’s idea of how a Rogue, Wizard, or any character, should be built.
Fantasy Core starts with the framework of the 3.5 OGL system, making it easy and familiar for most gamers to work with. It then breaks free of the constrictive nature of the OGL system with a 100% rebuild of the character design process. You will find no more classes or levels. We provide the tools needed to build the character you want, the way you want it.
Instead of pre-built character classes with almost no flexibility, you now use character points to build the character you prefer.
Along with the ability to create a unique character, Fantasy Core has revised and removed many of the rules that just plain didn’t make sense in 3.5 OGL, including armor rules, combat calculations, and various minor changes that many in the 3.5 community constantly pointed out as being flawed.
With this rebulid, the Magic System is also improved. You are now given the ability to create spells how you would like them to be created, while keeping the feel of the standard 3.5 spells. Magic scales based on how you build the spells, and how you use them. Magic is balanced, though, with a newly implemented “Sanity” system.
The core rulebook is all that is needed to play or run a game. It is fully setting-agnostic, with information, equipment, and abilities based on the technology level of nearly any campaign. Should you choose to play a specific setting, and want more in-depth information, there will be setting books released in the near future.
Recent Review:
“The fantasy Core Rulebook is outstanding. It resolves many of the issues I’ve had with 3rd edition and 3.5 Dungeon and Dragons rules, while also giving players a myriad of option in this classless, versatile system. I’d suggest it for any gaming group that desires to have a streamlined quick-paced system that doesn’t require a genius to navigate. It truly allows for players to design the character that is in their mind, without causing game balance problems. I was working on a similar system and I scrapped it entirely after seeing this book. I’m not going to attempt to top this!” - Nathan J.
